Accept unicode strings to .verify(... extra_compile_args=[...])

Issue #130 wontfix

This is probably a re-opening of issue 50 but the .verify(..., extra_compile_args=[...]) does not accept unicode strings. This is rather annoying when using from __future__ import unicode_literals.

There may be more arguments, which have this issue but this is the only I've tried so far.
