Add Option to store plugins in "Cineversity" sub-folder

Issue #135 new
Donovan Keith created an issue

From the CV forum:

Hi Rick,

I removed cv-toolbox, because the plugins and scripts are then scattered in my plugins or script folder! With a lot of other plugins and another language (german) instead of english—> it´s not handy to search and find! Only a few plugins have a “CV - xxxx” name, but not all :(

Before (sate) -> i´ve organized all cv stuff in a plugin/script-dirctory-sub-folder which called “Cineversity”. I think it is a better solution with a sub folder.

Also, after removed and new installed plugins via cv-toolbox (on mac) -> the manually installed message for the plugins appeared again and again. Maybe a bug on mac ?

I would install the cv-toolbox again, but only with a “sub plugin/script folder” called cineversity.
Hope you can add this in future!

Best regards, Thomas

Saw this - not sure about it though. Really shouldn't put 3rd party stuff in a Cineversity folder, but I'm not sure he'd be happy if just the Cineversity stuff was in a subfolder.

It also limits the visibility of our stuff, because it'll be shoved into a subfolder. And then you get into a whole mess of options where people want the scripts grouped but not the plugins, or they want ArtSmart on top because they use it all the time but want to hide everything else. I'm just not sure.

On the more practical side, I'm not sure where I'd put the option itself. In a menu? On the install page? Prefs dialog?

Yeah, I'm not totally sure how I feel about it either. I think the first step would just be to ensure that all Cineversity plugin folders start with the "CV-" prefix. That at least would make them easier to find in the plugins folder. The 3rd party stuff, I wouldn't want to put into it's own sub-folder either.
