CV-Toolbox - stuck on 1.6 no matter what

My CV-Toolbox reports that it is v1.6 under the about menu, but I see that the current version is v1.78b. If I choose to update CV-Toolbox from within CV-Toolbox, it alerts me that it is already installed and asks for permission to remove (I choose yes). However, after restart I am still at v1.6 under the about menu.

So I went to Cineversity and grabbed a fresh copy and got a zip file titled "cv-toolbox_1_78b.zip" and installed that - but after restart I still seem to be at v1.6.

Also, no matter what I do CV-Toolbox constantly warns that plugins were manually installed which they were not. I can remove all of them and re-install with CV-Toolbox and after restart it lists many as being manually installed.
