Bitter Pill aka fakepil aka VERY Limited Pure Python PIL
This implements a super-small subset of the PIL interface. You almost certainly do NOT want this. Use Pillow or PIL instead!
I needed a pure Python PIL implementation that ran under Jython and Python with my application. I extracted the file and history from another project (if you look at change history this will be obvious). Incidental the Mercurial convert extension with filemap parameter is awesome, credits to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3643313/mercurial-copying-one-file-and-its-history-to-another-repository for making this so easy.
The license for this is LGPL2.
It depends on other libraries for actual image support. Fake pil requires:
- http://code.google.com/p/pypng/ https://github.com/drj11/pypng
The licenses of the above are also different so be aware if you start shipping these together!
Right now it has limited support png and gif file read support and pixel reading.
