Issue #27 invalid

Only creates PDF for some print jobs

Anonymous created an issue

I installed CUPS-PDF on a Snow Leopard machine. If I print from Text Edit to the CUPS-PDF printer this works fine and I get the PDF. However if I print from LiveScribe Desktop

And try to print a notebook the job appears in the CUPs Printer Queue and then completes but no PDF is created. LiveScribe Desktops print dialog doesn't give the option of Save as PDF so CUPS-PDF would be very useful to be able to save the job it is creating.

Same problem here since 10.6.7. error_log shows the following message:

    Connection failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME

Newly created files print fine; documents created from templates show up in the printer queue but are not saved to the OUT location. Affected applications so far include Mellel, TextEdit, TextMate, Chromium, Firefox.

I was able to pin it down to certain OpenType features such as “Proportional old style”. As my templates use such OT fonts/features, files created from these templates won’t print in CUPS-PDF. Turning off OT features fixes the problem.

I don’t have the foggiest why CUPS-PDF’s error_log would show a Samba error message in such instances, though.
