Use columns3.php layout in courses
Use columns3.php in courses instead columns2.php to allow a wider use. Actually the layout exists but never modified to run in Adaptable.

Perhaps, rather than mandating, is there a way to programatically choose between the two? I.e. have an option.

reporter ising 3 columns you can add blocks to both sides or only one of them. Actually Adaptable only has one column that you can control from the layout settings.
The idea is to have 3 columns only in the course page and then the author can add the block to both columns. The rest of the theme will keep the 2 columns layout.

Sounds great but if my vote counts I'd suggest to focus on the current two columns layout and make it fully functional first. We still have some layout issues descending from the original BCU code that I'd be happy to see closed.

Is this an issue though? Most of the take up of Adaptable would be because it is a two column theme, not three. At least, the description calls it one. Going back to 3 columns would change one of the core features.
