I think improving the Dashboard is very worthwhile, as mentioned I think the tiled view of courses presented by Snap theme is very nice.

I guess you know the dasbboard in Moodle is built from blocks and simply displays a default block called "course overview".

I guess the question at this point is whether the dashboard changes shoudl be implemented by the theme or via a block plugin?

Perhaps the best solution would be to see wheteher we can add a layout builder for the dashboard page allowing block regions to be defined, and then admins could build whatever they needed for their students in the default dashboard settings.

I think then an additional block to replace the "course overview" could be written separately and in theory used in any theme.
