Four Tiles on Front Page when No Sidebar Used

The theme was originally designed to show 3 course tiles and the side blocks. If no side blocks are used on the front page then we would like it to adapt to show four blocks, i.e. the main content (course) are of the front page would adapt to fill the space with four blocks as opposed to three wider blocks.
Ideally we would want this to work with the show / hide blocks feature.

Not sure this is going to be possible as there are too many places this would need to be changed. The renderer would need to be changed and then the javascript would need to know to wrap 4 blocks instead of 3.
I would suggest we just do a setting where the user can select 4 or 3 in a row (independent of what the blocks are like on the front page). Would still be tricky to implement but at least manageable.
