Navigation Bar Sub Menus

Issue #923 new
Paul Prencis created an issue

Using a fresh installation of Moodle 3.5 and Adaptable 1.7 (both taken directly from moodle.org on July 7) and no other plugins I can confirm the following bugs in the navigation:

  • 2nd level drop-down menus do not work (they do work on mobile devices, however)
  • On sites with several menu items which end up wrapping onto more than one line, if two top-level menu items in different line are above and below each other, and if each has a first level sub list, then if you open the higher one and move your mouse down along the sub menu, as you pass the lower menu item, the lower submenu opens preventing you from being able to click on the lower items in the first list.

That last point is a bit confusing so here is a quick video to demonstrate. In the video, you can see that Menu Item 1 is above Menu Item 27. When I hover above Menu Item 1, it exposes Menu Item 2 through Menu Item 5 in its drop-down menu. As I move my mouse down the menu, when I get to around Menu Item 3, the submenu for Menu Item 27 appears instead.

To test the 2nd level submenu issue, go to Menu Item 45, under which is Menu Item 46, under which should be Menu Item 47 through 49. The arrow indicating there is a submenu is there, but the submenu doesn't show. It works correctly on mobile.

    Hi Paul,

Are you able to test using the current version here in Bitbucket on a test site? The main issue, regarding the 2nd level submenu is fixed here in BB already. We will have another official release out on Moodle soon if you want to wait for that.

With the second issue, I can see what you mean after adjusting my screen to not be full width. Generally you wouldn't expect to see so many menu items on the navigation (poor user experience) but I'll see what can be done on that.

Hi Manoj, thanks for looking into this. I installed the latest version from here that I just downloaded a couple of minutes ago and I can confirm that both issues are resolved. I can also confirm that regarding issue #909 regarding Atto dropdown menus that I commented on a few days ago is partially fixed: The paragraph style dropdown works but is quite far away from the paragraph style button. Feel free to use the test account above to test. The test site is Moodle v3.5 with the latest version of adaptable downloaded from here.

    Thanks again! Paul
