Update desktop software mechanism

I have created desktop application for Ubuntu. This application is working on many computers. How can I make update mechanism when new version is ready? How to update application on many computers?

Recently this was Windos-only application. At start time it checked for new version on shared Dropbox folder. If new version exists, application makes delete and copy new exe-file.

PS. Can I write in Russian?
