RockScrobbler crashes a few seconds after startup, no logs created

Issue #10 new
Former user created an issue

Hi,

I've just installed RockScrobbler 0.14 for the first time, on Windows 7 x64 - RockScrobbler starts fine, and if I make changes to the config they seem to get saved fine, but a few seconds after startup it just shuts down. The icon stays in the system tray until I hover the mouse over it then it dissappears. I've tried changing the scrobbling interval to 10 seconds and that doesn't delay the crash. I've also enabled debug logging, but from looking at the source it seems this just goes into the Log window which disappears along with everything else.

I seem to be able to run 0.13 alright, so I'll use that for now, but let me know if there is anything you can think of that might be killing 0.14.

Cheers DJM23

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I suspect this is due to the use of SSL libraries which are required to log in. Can you try the following please?

    1. Shut down Rock Scrobbler.
    2. Open windows explorer and in the address bar enter %APPDATA%\ToastWare
    3. Rename RockScrobbler.ini to RockScrobbler.ini.old
    4. Start Rock Scrobbler. It should immediately pop up the settings dialog for you to log in.
    5. Attempt to log in.

Does the settings dialog appear? Does it only crash after attempting to log in?

Once you have finished, you can restore your old settings by renaming RockScrobbler.ini.old back to RockScrobbler.ini.
