The project name is confusing with a similar independent project at CSE, Chalmers

Issue #102 wontfix
Former user created an issue

Hello,

You should be well aware that there are two student report submission services in use at CSE, Chalmers, totally unrelated to each other and the older one by Tobias Gedell is called "Fire".

In other words, there is a different implementation of a submission system, which has been in use for a long time and is currently in use at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

I wonder why you decided to boldly reuse the name of the different (even though similar) tool.

If not otherwise, your use of the same name creates a confusion for the users. Please correct the name of your project to be clearly distinct from the other, still actively used and historically earlier system.

I believe that this version of Fire is intended to eventually replace the older one, hence the choice of name. To avoid ambiguity, one can refer to them as "the new Fire system" and "the old Fire system", respectively. Nevertheless, given that only one version of the system is used within the context of each course, and that each course has an independent URL that is linked to from the course homepage, the room for confusion should be minimal.

This doesn't change that each course responsible is free to use whichever (version of the) system they prefer. However, if there are features in the old Fire that are missing in the new system, please open a ticket so that it can be remedied.
