Textures are not appearing

I'm using the 1.6.2 version, I used the 1.5.2 version and the textures worked fine, now on the 1.6.2 version, I try everything and the textures won't show up. I know they moved into the folder "assets" and blah blah blah, but I tried putting copies of the texture in every folder, even tried to put them in a resource pack, nothing worked. Help!

I also had the same problem, and last I heard the reason this is happening is going to be fixed in the future, but for now...

The folder in your assets folder needs to be lowercase. if your main folder (the one inside the Custom Stuff's root) is, for instance, CustomStuff, then it generates as .minecraft\config\CustomStuff\mods\CustomStuff\assets\CustomStuff, but the last folder needs to be changed to customstuff manually.
