Some explanation: knightmare is currently improving the network protocol - I think the last windows snapshot already broke compatibility and the current code is incompatible to that, too. So I'm waiting for those improvements to be finished before releasing a new Linux version (and we'll have a new windows version too, then, I assume).

Furthermore it looks like the Mac OS X port is finally happening, I guess that the first "official" release of OSX binaries will also happen with the new network protocol.

If it turns out that the network improvements take very long, we could (should?) release an intermediate version with Windows/Linux/OSX binaries of the same git revision, but (almost) certainly won't happen until OSX support is stable enough.

Yes, the current windows build is a snapshot right before Knightmare's protocol updates. There is no plans to bump the version number of the new protocol so demos recorded during this time period will not work on newer builds. There is no plan to fix that as it would be a mess to maintain compatibility.

If the protocol changes are not completed then yes, we will release all new builds across the board as soon as the OS X port is confirmed to be on the same quality level (which is apparently very close, just has a few small issues).

Hello, is it possible to release some doc explaining Daikatana client-side protocol and changes prepared by Knightmare or is it prohibited because of source code license? Thanks

The protocol changes don't need user documentation, as they're completely invisible to the user unless you compare the output of cl_shownet across builds.

Yeah, I guess so - I was more curious about whole client-server protocol scheme documentation. This would allow to prepare solution like QASE http://sourceforge.net/projects/qase/ for Daikatana, but there are surely more important things to solve :) Thanks for your answer anyway

Protocol changes are done for now. Extensive testing from the community regarding it's stability and any hidden issues will be necessary. Windows compile will be available soon, and linux should quickly follow as well.
