Cant enter the second Sewer Level (E1M2B)

Hi there, the game crashes everytime when i try to enter the second Sewer Level (E1M2B) I have the Steam Version + german Language Patch + Patch 1.3 installed. OS is Windows 7 64bit Even with Cheats I cant enter this sublevel

Are you using the 64-bit or 32-bit version of the game? Is it the latest version of 1.3? Is there a stackdump available that was generated? Are you starting the game from within steam or are you starting daikatana.exe?

I am using the 64-bit version and as far as I Know the latest. I start the game with steam.

Ok, i am sorry i am no natural english speaker, so what do you mean with stackdump?

When the game crashes, it should ask you if you want to make a crash dump. Did you say yes to this?

Try start the game without steam.

Starting the game without steam results in the same crash.

No there is no stackdump. When I enter from the previous Level the Loadingscreen appears, then my Mousecursor, and when i cklick the left mousbutton i am right at the desktop without any failure message etc.

Do you have a save from the previous level? Can you zip up and send me your save_x64 directory? It will be located in Documents\My Games\Daikatana\Data\Save_x64

Use a free service like dropbox, sendspace, etc. If you cannot find a site I can make an FTP logon for you.

OK, got it. In the mean time, you can use the 32-bit version of the game and should be able to continue. You will have to restart from the beginning though. However you are only a few levels in so it should not be a big deal.

I am not sure why the 64-bit builds are causing issues for a select few. We tested it many times over and have never had save related crashes. In any case, I will look into this over the next few days.

This is strange, I just tried it with your save on x64 and I have no problems loading the autosave. Are you on Windows 10? Is it 1809/1903/Insider Build? What video card, etc.

I am using Windows 7 64bit. I dont rememver the build i used, bit it was the lastes avaiable build a week ago.

I have a Win 7 x64 install I can test it on.  My other question is do you have a virus scanner?  What brand?  Is your machine overclocked at all, even a tiny amount?

Yes I have a virus scanner: Avast Free Antivirus.

And no, my machine is not overclocked.

But my Windows is a few years old. Perhaps it is just some corrupted dlls or something on my machine. But normally it works fine.

You can actually reinstall the 64-bit version over top of your existing game. As long as the save_x64 directory still exists you can access those older saves again. Try it again with the virus scanner disabled, let me know if this makes a difference.
