Stable crash in Icelab [part 3] at start
Just moving from the starting spawn to the door crashes the game stably. Save file attached. I’m playing Steam version on Windows 10 with the latest patch.

Hi Max,
I need you to zip up the entire My Games/Daikatana/Data/Save directory and send it to me. The “current” one is not enough to reload it for testing.
Thanks,

reporter There you go. Good thing they’re small. I tend to save often.

Excellent! This is the first time someone has sent me a corrupted save where I’ve been able to reproduce it every time!
The sequence of events to reproduce this:
- /map e1m6a
- /massacre
- go to e1m6a-e1m6b transition, go to e1m1b
- do not kill anything (because the stack dump indicates one of the workers you forgot to kill is what is corrupting on save restore!)
- go to e1m6c
- walk back to e1m6b
- crash
So it looks like the workers that have special AI scripts (probably sitting at the monitors, interacting with them) have some sort of issue on save restore. This may have been fixed in the latest beta builds as I had some code to deal with some of those situations. I will test on the beta builds and let you know.
Again, thank you so much! I’ve been driving myself crazy for a year trying to solve this in a reproducible way!

This is great stuff; now that we have the build archive at http://maraakate.org/dk_update/List?Type=0 I’ve been able to find out that it’s been introduced somewhere between the Mar 2018 and Mar 2019 build. I can go back and compile and bisect it down to find out what messed this all up.

reporter Awesome, glad to be of help

This has helped me so much to find what was actually causing this. I have now fixed the issue. However, your save games will break, requiring you to restart the game. The latest beta builds:
- 32-bit Windows: http://maraakate.org/DK_Update/Download?_id=a2cb3cb2-96f4-4eda-b268-96b23b050293&Type=0
- 64-bit Windows: http://maraakate.org/DK_Update/Download?_id=ebebde56-03c3-475b-91ad-521a2df00ba3&Type=0
Thanks!

reporter Okay, restarted the game and changed map do e1m6a. It seems to work fine in e1m6c now. In fact, I didn’t even realize that this ramp leads back to e1m6b, hehe. So, I probably could’ve just move forward through the door without having any crashes.
