Acropolis Part 3: Mikiko keeps falling into chasm

At the end of the Acropolis part 3, there is a chasm with a waterfall that must be jumped before proceeding to part 4. I have tried telling Mikiko to stay until I've jumped across and then called her, jumped without calling her, jumped off the bridge over the fenced railing and no matter how I jump across; she still fails in her attempt to jump across to the other side. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, but she has fallen into the pit now twenty times in a row. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

    I am using version 1.3. I started off with the original CD, updated to 1.1 then 1.2 via patch. I downloaded the 7zip version off of steam named: DK_EXE_011415_FULL.7Z, made a new folder with the download and then merged the 1.2 data file and dll file into the folder. I tried it originally by inserting the downloaded 1.3 over the 1.2 install, and it simply would not work that way. I noticed in an older play through video that the particular terrain I am referencing for the jump, extended outwards along the wall more in the past. I am not sure if the terrain was modified to help with the bot AI or not. I can still make the jump, but Mikiko cannot.

    Why did the download not extract properly over your install? The patch is intended to be extracted this way.

    I kept getting errors in 7zip when I attempted to do it, and it just wouldn't update to 3.1. However, once I created a brand-new folder with the download and then merged the 2.1 data folder and dll folder into the new folder, it updated perfectly to 3.1 and works flawlessly thus far except for this one dilemma with the jump. I am playing it at 1920 x 1080, and this is the first problem I have encountered. I am no tech expert so it is possible this is my fault. I beat the game years ago and have always loved the game, but this patch has rekindled my interest. One thing that does stick out, which may be irrelevant is that when Mikiko falls down into the chasm, she does not explode and die; she is alive and moving about. I have tried going to the exit and calling her, but she never leaves that hole.

    I just did a complete play through of episode 2 on the hard skill and had no problems.

    Can you do a fresh install of 1.2 and then extract the latest full build (no file/folder copying)?

    I loaded up both the 1.2 and v1.3 versions of this map. There's definitely an extended ledge there in v1.2 that's not in v1.3, as we had only the v1.0 map sources to work from. I've just restored this ledge, and it will be in the next set of updated maps.

    BTW, I couldn't get Mikiko to fall in the pit with the v1.3 maps and nodes on my end, and I tried about a dozen times.

    That said, getting errors in 7-zip just when you extract the patch means that you got a corrupt download. If the errors happen when extracting directly into your Daikatana folder, you should instead try extracting the patch to a temp folder first and then copy it over your DK install.

    The map pack (pak6.pak) seems to have made the jump over the chasm much harder. I cannot make it over the chasm, and Mikiko apparently cannot either.

    The GOG version of this map has significantly different geometry in that area: The ledge from which to make the jump is extending there much further.

    As I said in my above post, I've just found this map difference and fixed it. The ledge extension will be back in the next release.
