Letter duplicates with chain class format "A"

When using chain class format "A", duplicate letters are generated on the chain map.

For example, on the attached tripwire map (only part of the scanned chain) there are:

2x LS A

3x C3 A

2x C4 A

We have the same issue with the lowercase letter 'a'
