Unable to load a saved game

Issue #423 resolved
Former user created an issue

Hi, Just downloaded it today, tried New game, it's a tuto, first mission done, 2nd mission, i save it to come back later.

Later, when i relaunch the game, i can't find my saved game anywhere...

I redid the test, the Load game window stays empty.

Playing on a Mac OS Maverick, game_version = 0.5.157

Cheers, C.

    Sorry, didn't login before posting. If you need anymore infos, say it. I couldn't find a save file. I also just did the try to start a new game, saving, and trying to load without exiting, even in this case the load box is empty. C.

    no /homedir doesn't exist. if it was in ~ (/User/my_id) no .ceasaria repertory here.

    I have a "save" file in SteamApps/common/CaesarIA but it was created on the first launch i think. as not been updated yesterday night when i tried to save.

    Also i did a mistake on posting, my Os is Yosemite, not Maverick.

    If save files are named as shown when saving (save.oc3save) just FyI, i did a

    find / | grep oc3save

    => No file found.

    that's what i though, on Mac Yosemite it looks like it is in /Users/username. I just tried to create the folders ~/.caesaria/saves, and do a saving. nothing changed. no new files there

    it works! but i had to remove a file named "saves" to be able create the folder.

    i kept the old file just in case, it is a 348289 Bytes file.

    ok, i think if found how to fix it. Yet one test, pls remove "saves" directory and run game, is directory created automatically and save/load work correct?

  7. Cédric LE COZ

    no, if i do that, when trying to save a Popup pop : ##warning## ##save_directory_not_exist## clicking V to validate does create the file saves (not the folder) that's where it came from :) and the popup does not disappear anymore. I'm going to have to kill it. C.

    strange, i redid the test, and now the saves file is not created (nor is the folder) the warning popup is the same, does not disappear.

    and just as i was writing the previous comment the file saves appeared :) I must have been quicker.

    it also bug ))) i think macos cant add permission for folder which include steam installer, such "saves" folder, i think it need create from script when game start

    OK, so i did test on the new release. The saves folder is still not created, i tried to redownload the game from steam to be sure. But then, looking at the script run_macos.sh, no "mkdir -p saves" so... maybe for the next release. the warning popup is now closing, and do not anymore create a saves file, so, that a +.

    But the fix i had to manually create a saves folder doesn't work anymore :'( did the folder name change ?

    Thanks, C.

    Ok, works for me!

    I just had a problem with a previously created save file... I looked quickly over the script run_macos.sh,
    In the case where there already is a file named saves, you will have a problem.

    I think it be cleaner to do (if not folder, remove, and create folder)

    SAVEDIR=./saves

    if [ ! -d $SAVEDIR ] then rm -f $SAVEDIR mkdir -p $SAVEDIR fi

    Thanks again :)

    good advice, I will add this to script, but 95% that game not create file with name saves )))
