Drop-down filtering menu in Candidates page: "strange" classes and use of asterisks?

It is not entirely clear for me why:

a) There are classes which are no ELM classes (e.g. Drug Design)

b) Some classes have an asterisk on their name.

We should either clarify this with a hover menu or being more explicit in the Help page.
