JQL search results doubt

Dear Mr/Mrs,

I am using the plugin for kpis visualization during a time period. For example, one year. I use for y axis issue count and for time series field (none sum of the existing issues).

Below is my JQL search but I need to understand how the pluging works. I mean, applies this search at todays time changing $DURING with some dates in the past and the results are shown or applies the search as it was done at that past time?. I mean, I added and OR (status in (OPEN..)) to include at the past dates the issues that were in fact in the status OPEN for example because I think that the search was in it gives back the issues that in the past had been in one status but not the ones that at that date were in that status. I mean, status was in () in reality does the search status had been in (). I am sorry, probably my question is no clear enough but I hope you understand the concept.

project = NCs AND issuetype = Non_conformity AND ( (status was in (OPEN, ACEPTED, IN_PROGRES, EN_REVISION, EN_APROBATION, ON_WAIT) $DURING) OR (status in (OPEN, ACEPTED, IN_PROGRES, EN_REVISION, EN_APROBATION, ON_WAIT))
