JQL field, the '<' symbol is changing to '&lt;' after save

In the "Edit Data Set" modal I have some JQL that changes after saving. Specifically my '<' changes to '<'.

This is what I'm trying to save: "Epic Link" = LIS-1160 AND createdDate < "2019/02/12" AND key != LIS-1186 And status was not closed and status was not "RC Merged"

Any help on this would be much appreciated.
