Add channel nine and seven to webdl? (kodi and chrome addons works)

Issue #83 wontfix
Tyler Durden created an issue

There's kodi addons and chrome addons that can now stream or download from channel nine and seven

Chrome https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adobe-hds-hls-video-saver/pibndofbpkoaipoidbkephfhhnapkccn?hl=en

Kodi https://www.google.com.au/search?q=kodi+australian+tv&oq=kodi++au+TV&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.8345j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Would it be possible to look at the code and add channel nine and seven to webdl again?

    Just so we can understand, can you give the reason/s why you can't do it?

    Is it you don't want channel 7/9 to get legal on you or something else?

    Hi, it's a combination of related reasons:

    Ch7/9 don't want people to rip their streams to files. DRM is a clear signal of this, but even prior to this there were indications. Contrast with ABC/SBS which rarely change their protocol and don't seem to make any attempt to block this sort of use.

    Tools like streamlink do not support Widevine or any of the other DRM schemes that these sites use. These schemes are quite complex, much more so that WebDL itself. I would have to write and maintain this code myself, keeping it working even though Ch7/9 and the creators of the DRM schemes would be hostile and likely to make breaking changes.

    Finally I'm generally pretty happy with the content on ABC and SBS. When I could keep the other channels working with minimal effort I was happy to do so, but I don't have the time or motivation that is needed to make them work again now.

    Sorry for the disappointment, but I thought it would be best to make this clear rather than leaving issues open indefinitely :)
