Full-screen 'emegergecy' announcement thing...

I was able to accomplish this with a simple full-screen block that normally has no published content. A special feed with “emergency alert” images was created, and a short list of alert message images added. The block has a CSS z-index of 99, so when published content is visible, it overlays all other content. Works well, but to simplify things, I created a “special” user account (named 911 - the US standard emergency call number). This account can publish to the special Emergency Alert feed, and no others.

This method does require that only ONE image be published at a time, otherwise the alerts may confuse the viewers as they cycle through the feed. Unless, of course, you actually do have multiple emergency situations going on!
