Issue #319 resolved
Former user created an issue

Hi, I don't know if that is because I am using a Windows 10 preview, or if it was not implemented, but for now I cannot go farther than drawing of each part of my pattern parts, I cannot add my sewing margins. If the reason is tht ait was not implemented yet, you should just close that issue. If not, I am ready to make printscreens Kind Regards,

    Hi,

but for now I cannot go farther than drawing of each part of my pattern parts, I cannot add my sewing margins.

I have fellings you did not read our User Manual. Please, read the capter Creating Workpieces.

Have you saved your drawing, then clicked on Detail on the left menu, and added seam allowances? 'Workpieces' are your pattern pieces with the seam allowances added through the Detail/Seam Allowance tool. After creating workpieces: 1. view your Workpieces by clicking on Detail icon on the top menu bar 2. Then click on Layout icon on the top menu bar and create a layout 3. Then click on File/Layout to print your layout.

Hello Anonymous, You say you are using Windows 10 preview, so you are part of the MS Insider users. Have you checked the windows 10 security parameters? Are you sure you installed well windows, and did not set c++ software to be limited? To be sure whether it is a Valentina malfunction or a windows limit, you should try to set up valentina on any other windows version. (win 7 or win 8, or maybe win 8.1).

For now I have not tried to go as far as creating "sewing margins", (actually we call that Seam Allowance), but I'll try as soon as I'll be that far in the french user manual reading and verified the translation.

I'm sure you'll be able to use the "functions" if you follow the english user manual.(that is well written and explains so much).

I'm waiting to read you again, so let us know about your tests.

@severine_poincon, i like your irony, but, i think, it is more like our GUI bug. Good UI will lead user to the goal. I still think how better make it right. Right now we just silence on this stage. That's why get so many questions.

but I'll try as soon as I'll be that far in the french user manual reading and verified the translation.

We don't have member in the team who can create the french user manual. This is reason why the french manual stuck in the past. Someone ought to make section in Wiki and begin translation. Wiki is open for editing.

Ok, for the french manual, I'll go for it, as soon as I can. As for now I'm just trying to help in the transifex values names and descriptions translations. That is kind of difficult as I have to find documents in english to explain me what some english names mean, before I can give the french words/sentences (I'm not used to the english sewing and patternmaking techniques words).

About irony, that was not so much that, than the fact I also had problems when installing, and setting up old programs I created (3 or 4 years ago) on my windows 10 testing computer. It took me one week to find out about the new security parameters... That took me a lot of time for someone used to betatesting, especially an it helpdesk technician.

Unfortunately i can't provide .docx file with last French manual. Just can't find the file on my computer. Maybe @tusuzu can.

I can make your task little bit easier. Find file GOST_man_ru.vst and ignore all measurements in section extended all these names are from my imagination. We only prepare better translation.

Hi, It's me again, I am wondering if you would agree if I set screenshots of the software in french, in the translated user manual. I would also like to know if you would agree with me using chapter numbering and titles other than "1 xxx 2 xxx 1xxx 2xxx" etc. I might set it to : "I. Chapter 1 II. Chapter 2 A. SubChapter 1 B. SubChapter 2 1. chapter lvl 3" with that page presentation chapters, I would define character polices sizes bigger for level 1 (16 maybe) for level 2 (14) for lever 3 (12)

  8. Susan Spencer

Yes, please! The screenshots in French are a great idea! And use any numbering scheme you prefer. If there are other differences that French readers would relate to, please make those changes as well.

    Agree.

Even we can't help we can try publish information about new translation manual in French somewhere (Facebook and mail list?). And hope we will find you someone else for help.

Ok, I'll replace the screenshots, so that french users won't get lost when they will use the software while reading the manual. The actual version isn't bad, even if there are some strange sentences... I already have worked on worse translations at work. I just take the english original sentences and translate to make it understandable by french people. I found more grammatical, words place, or some gender errors than nonsense. That shall be easy to do it for the actual version. You will find the docx file I've begun to check.

It's far from finished, but if you would like me to change some parts, I'm open about suggestions.
