Based on Stuart’s report from recent astropy changes, it seems that the new version (5.3) correctly identifies that the ZBLANK keyword should be present in FITS files with NaN values in the data. Seemingly, CRYO-CI is the only instrument thus far to exhibit this, but we should add ZBLANK to the spec to make sure we are covered in the future.
