Date value as Y axis

Great product. big fan. Issue: I'm trying to have a very simple table render as a violin chart and it doesnt render. in this case, I have a column with a category, a column with a date field, and a column with a "counter" when I try to show the date field as a Y axis, it shows some version of a count of dates, rather than a true date range
