Membership year end problem

I've just noticed that now we are into October, with half our members still to pay, the membership renewal page says they are renewing memberships up to 2017. This is obviously because we have our year end down as 30 September 2015 so it thinks we are in the new membership year. I tried moving the year end forward to 31st October 2015 but that just says their new membership runs until 31st October 2016 which is almost as bad.

Also when people are paying, their directory profiles are being set to membership next due 2017. I've been changing them manually.

Could we perhaps in the short term hide the membership date from the renewal page?
