hg pull aborts with "...invalid distance too far back..."

Issue #263 new

created an issue

I've successfully pulled more than 11 thousands revisions from FreePascal svn repo but there is no chance to go through [r11413]. It shows the following message after 20 minutes of waiting (actually downloading large revision). {{{ hg pull -f pulling from http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/fpc [r11413] florian: * cleaning up cleanroom branch abort: ("GET of '/svn/fpc/!svn/bc/11413/branches/merged/cleanroom/rtl/netware/nwcalls.pp': Could not inflate data: invalid distance too far back (http://svn.freepascal.org)", 175002) }}}

there is no effect of --stupid parameter also. my software config:

{{{ hg version --svn Mercurial Distributed SCM (version 1.8.1) (see http://mercurial.selenic.com for more information) ... hgsubversion: c32c92fdca5b Subversion: 1.6.6 bindings: SWIG }}}

    Ok. Thank you for the comment.

    This is public repo of FreePascal open source project. I don't have any specific needs of this project, just wanted to observe the latest changes via mercurial. I don't have any personal contacts with the developers to persuade them to do something with their repo so it sounds like I leave my tries to pull the changes.

    On the other hand it would be nice to have any workaround in such cases, may be skip some not important (or all unrecognized) information from "strange" repos (if it's possible in particular situation). Of course there must be a parameter of clone/pull operation to enable such "skip mode".

    This sounds like a very difficult to implement feature, and one likely to be buggy.

    I'm not opposed to it, but it's unlikely it'll get done unless someone who needs it steps up.

    I have admin/shell access to the fpc svn repository. However, the repository is fine, it is regularily verified, just did it again.

    The problem seems to be caused by the network connection of svn.freepascal.org: svn cat http://svn.freepascal.org/svn/fpc/branches/merged/cleanroom/rtl/netware/nwcalls.pp@11413 works as long as it is executed locally. From remote it fails, we will have a look into it.

    As workaround pull from svn2.freepascal.org which is recommended for read-only repositories anyways: svn cat http://svn2.freepascal.org/svn/fpc/branches/merged/cleanroom/rtl/netware/nwcalls.pp@11413 works for me also from remote.
