Tiles with embedded videos don't close

I have a course in tile format, that has (among other activities) a text label with videos embedded from Vimeo.
Once the tile opened it won’t close properly. Using the close button just unthaws the videos, however all other activities remain visible. Selecting a different tile opens the new tile in addition to the one with videos in it.

If I have only one text label in the tile, which included embedded video from Vimeo, the tile closed. As soon as I add another activity e.g. a text label it doesn’t close any more.

Deactivating animated navigation helps, but is not appreciated.

We use Moodle 3.11.5 with the latest available tile plugin.

I have discovered the same issue.

Moodle version: 3.11.5 (20220117)

Tiles version: 3.11.1.3 (2020080629)

It appears to affect videos that are embedded using Vimeo, but with the ‘responsive’ option checked when grabbing the embed code (see screenshot)

Steps to replicate:

1. Create a Moodle course using Tiles format
2. In one of the Tile summaries, open the HTML area and paste a Vimeo ‘responsive’ embed code (like the one in the screenshot)
3. Save changes
4. On the course page, click to open that tile
5. Now, try any option that involves that tile closing e.g. clicking the 'x' to exit that tile, clicking on another tile, or clicking out of the tile to exit (you may need to do this a few times)

Observed result:

The Tile with the video “sticks” on the screen without the video, along with any other tile you may have opened. See screenshots:

Expected result:

The Tile with the video closes correctly, and either displays the entire list of tiles (when closed) or the new tile (when selected)

Workaround:

The only workaround is to either download the Vimeo video and re-upload using the Atto editor (time consuming and inconvenient) , use a different course format (Tiles looks really pretty so don’t want o do this), or not use the ‘Responsive’ embed option in Vimeo and select a fixed size instead (this causes issues where videos get cut off on different devices).
