Turning with a joystick doesn't work.

I recently got a gamepad, I didn't have one before. It works fine for p much everything I play with it, except ECWolf.

I wanted to set up turning left/right to a joystick. In the control configuration menu it sets up nicely. However, in-game, it just doesn't work. I tried to map it to all possible joystick axis, doesn't work. Walking/strafing with joysticks works, and automap controls are working fine too.
