I have the same problem, tried EggRider fw 2.4.08 and 2.4.11, im on BAC800 fw 90-000212 and Android app v2.4.18.

I can write settings and all but Engine current wil stick after reboot / read. But the settings have no effect, it has a static 40A current limit and no speed limits when in use.

  2. Tyson Twilegar

Same problem. ASI 8000 - sur Ron. The settings have no effect. My motor amps both in road/off-road always return to zero, leaving me dead in the water. My bike hasn’t worked in weeks. Please help.

  3. Enduro eBike Addict

Same problem here, Running ASI BAC800 from ERT with V2.4.11 Firmware and V2.4.18 EggRider App.

When making changes in ASI Setting on the EggRider and clicking on the “Write” button, I get “AsiSettingsOffRoadWrite response successfully” message, but Speed, Motor Amps and Power settings have no effects, either on Road or OffRoad Profiles.

  4. Emil

In that case I’ll have to check the ERT dataset. I personally haven’t been able to run with it at all. Please give me a day. I’ll try and give you an answer this evening. If you have a more recent ERT dataset xml please send it to me at support@eggbikes

From my experience if the controller is set to “Speed“ it will ignore any torque settings, and if it’s set to “Torque“ it will ignore any speed limit. If it set to “Speed and torque“ it will ignore pretty much everything

  5. Truls Vian

In my case i have the stock controller to fall back on, so im in no hurry for a fix.
I cant find any settings for Speed and Torque?

  6. Emil

hi all, I have built a new firmware and it should fix some of the issues. The root cause seems to be that ASI controller is read protected and it returns 0 to any request.

It doesn’t explain the speed problem for now, so I’ll work further to get to the bottom of that.

  7. Emil

@Dan I cannot seem to get in touch with you, this ticket is too slow in my opinion. I think I have the solution, but would be nice to chat in realtime. Can you send your whatsapp number to our contact email address?

Same goes for everyone with these issues

  8. Truls Vian

“Latest” is a relative term Dan. When i ordered my BAC800 i informed electron that i had an EggRider on the 2.4.08 firmware. There was no objection on their part.

Also, what do you mean by “break the ASI”?

  9. Truls Vian

No, the profiles arent working and i cant tel if the speed is accurate as i have no means of testing it on public road. theres 1 meter of snow where i live now.

  10. Tyson Twilegar

I have been out of my office for two weeks. just catching up on emails today. i will respond specifically later today.

  11. Jason Cvitanich

I purchased my controller through ERT. I’ve tried 2.4.19 but I still couldn’t get it to work. I contacted Alan at ERT who told me 2.4.19 will break the controller. I can’t even connect to the controller via bacdoor now. Not sure if that had to do with the firmware or some other problem.

  12. Captain Codswallop

I encountered this issue with my cyc x1 bac800 build. The display powers on the bike but the power levels do not operate. My bac800's are not locked though so I am not getting issues with the road and offroad profiles resetting.

  13. Captain Codswallop

My bbshd is using the universal profile but it's not pushing those numbers on a 52 volt battery. Not under load for sure. On a 72 volt battery I get 12500 under load and 15000+ unloaded. The controller works fine with the eggrider beta firmware from July. The controller is not locked in any way. I'm not touching it as it's not broken. I tried to set it up with my X1 and the levels do not scale. The ASI settings seem ok. The only difference is it is a newer eggrider.

  14. Captain Codswallop

Whatever gets figured out the solution is not to have the bac800 units unlocked. The reason it works so screamingly well with the bbshd is because of Alan's work. If they go out unlocked then eventually someone will rip him off. So the fix has to be on the eggrider side. Because it's not fair to ask someone to open up their livelihood to be easily copied to fix a basic issue.

  15. Captain Codswallop

No worries. Has anyone tried this version of firmware. ‎eggrider_fw_2.4.0_beta.zip I realize it's older but it works fine with the universal profile on the bac800 on my bbshd. Alan seems to think there are no issues on the old firmware and he will have tested locked units with it. I can send anyone the old firmware if it's not available.

  16. Captain Codswallop

Well that sucks. Hopefully it gets figured out. Maybe my power switching issues are not related this particular bug.

  17. Captain Codswallop

The power setting should scale for both pas and throttle but I didnt think that was the case for the speed limit or the current. I think it's just one value. So to make it legal here you have it set to 32km/h. The egg settings imply you can have a different top speed for pas and throttle. Have you tried that functionality?

I'll try it next time I ride. I must admit I dont have road profile to the letter of the law just a realistic one that moves a heavy bike at speeds a fit cyclist could achieve.

  18. Captain Codswallop

Yeah the new display should provide a high level of control over the ASI controllers. Kind of like a bacdoor for dummies in that it auto detects the motor and gives you quick and easy access to all the parameters you need. Looking forward to trying one.

  19. Captain Codswallop

If the NXT works with the controller you have and does the profile switching correctly then it ought to eliminate the controller as being the issue here. Because it provides the same base functionality therefore presumably interacts with the same parameters in the controller.

  20. Truls Vian

Lost interest in using the ASI BAC 800. Its now just a £310, 296g paperweight made of buyers remorse. Is there any viable options to it thats known to work 100%?

  21. Captain Codswallop

A good starting point is to see if Egg bikes have a bac800 in the locked format for testing purposes. Or can they install a parameters file to replicate what ERT customers are being sent in order to test. From the timeline I can piece together they were going out locked and working with the eggrider up to a point… so what changed and where. If that can be isolated then a fix can be surely found. It's worth pursuing as the combo on my fatbike is very fast and reliable especially at 72 volts. I can understand peoples frustration as it drives me nutty when stuff does not work. Unfortunately we are dealing with electronic parts from multiple companies and the lines of communication might not be as good as they can. Clearly Alan needs to protect his livelihood.. So surely there is a programming solution to allow the eggrider to change some values without the whole thing being wide open access?

  22. Jason Cvitanich

Has anyone been able to make contact with Alan? See if he is willing to discuss what’s happening on the controller side with the people at eggrider?

  23. Jason Cvitanich

Truls Vian the only other option I know of is the phaserunner. From what I hear it’s basically the same controller as the bac800. The downside of it is you need to use the their Cycle Analyst display (which is big and ugly) if you want all the functions. However if your looking for throttle only you don’t need the display.

If this doesn’t get sorted out I’m looking at that option.

  24. Tyson Twilegar

I messaged him yesterday regarding the issue. He replied that he no longer is selling eggrider.

  25. George Banea

Hi guys, I really apologies for the late reply. I was away with a very poor internet connection.

There is a combination of factors related to these issues. Like different firmware versions on ASI, writing protections and possibly some changes in EggRider firmware that don’t match with ERT configurations.

We are working now with Alan to try to sort this mess.

We will get back as soon as we have a solution.

  26. Darryl Rowe

I’m waiting to see what happens regarding using EggRider display, the app and ERT BAC800 controller together. Think I might be up for a new display… shame ‘cause the display and programming ability were just gorgeous, (or was that Georgeous). Nothing to offer, me…

    Still waiting.

  27. Captain Codswallop

Dan, there is a coding solution that does not require ERT to unlock the controllers. Apparantly an unlock and lock call can be made to the bac800. So it automatically unlocks and then relocks. This is the solution. It is only fair that the time and effort ERT puts into programming is protected. The display Alan has developed makes updates to the controller with this technique. There is no reason why eggs device cannot do the same. I hope egg implements this way of doing things. The controllers wont be unlocked because of the risk of copying. If they start going out unlocked how long before luna or others strip out the unprotected code and start use the data?

  28. Captain Codswallop

Just to be clear I'm not suggesting that anyone on here would do anything dishonest. In terms of the locking Dan I think we are phrasing the same thing slightly differently. The best solution would be an unlock write lock confirm call. Not only is this doable. It would be the best for egg as it would allow their system to make other changes to the ASI controllers down the road if the wanted additional functionality beyond the current parameters they change. This will also allow the egg to work with any ASI controller rather than a specific fix to work with ones by ERT.

  29. George Banea

    Hi everyone,

This tread is now very big and very difficult to follow. Also, I feel that not everyone might have the same issue.

As I stated before, the writing of settings issue from EggRider is most likely due to the password protection on the controller, so this falls more on ERT responsibility. ERT decided to send out some kits without even consulting us before or maybe this is how he wanted the kits to be, limited.

Could you all please fill in the form below to help us understand if you fall under this unfortunate situation or there if there is something else.

…I removed all my posts on this thread except the first one… this is starting to look like a chat room, and not like an issues page… Keep us inform if ever a resolution is found.

  31. Darryl Rowe

I agree that the information is useful, what would be more useful though is to be reassured that issues are in hand and progressing.

  32. Darryl Rowe

No fix. Seems the way around issues is to wait for Alan to finish developing the new NXT display that resolves the issue of programming the ASI BAC800 from ERT. Not far away and it promises to be a fantastic piece of kit. Regards Darryl.

Does anyone here have a ASI BAC800 controller direct from ASI Canada (www.accelerated-systems.com) and not one from ERT and that can confirm that all Eggrider configurations are working with the original ASI controllers?

I am talking about these settings: Throttle Max Power, PAS Max Power, Motor current, Throttle Max Speed, PAS Max Speed for both Road and OffRoad Profiles

Also, does the Eggrider work with the new ASI BAC855 controller from ASI Canada?

  34. Tyson Twilegar

Ert is a scam. Sold me a asi 8000 and suggested an EggRider. Following Alan’s suggestion, I purchased both. The eggrider does not work with the asi bac’s. I returned the 8000 to Alan in February. He still hasn’t refunded my money and refuses to do so even though he agreed to the return.

EggRider also failed to rectify the issue even though multiple people reported the same problem.

The whole situation is lame, and I believe EggRider is holding the ball.

  35. Enduro eBike Addict

I’m not here to bash anyone or any businesses, just want someone or maybe Emil or George to confirm or not if all Eggrider’s ASI configurations are working with an original ASI controllers purchased from ASI Canada (www.accelerated-systems.com)? Cheers

  36. Tyson Twilegar

No, they don’t work, and most likely have screwed your controller. Not bashing, just saying.

  37. Jason Cvitanich

Interesting fine. According to the website it says it will work with the eggrider or without a display. I wonder if it has the same smoothness, tuning as ERT’s controllers.

  38. George Banea

    Hi everyone,

Sorry for the late reply. I hope you are all well and safe!

We added functionality to detect if an ASI controller is password protected. We also added the option in display settings advanced page to set the ASI password which will make eggrider work correctly with locked controllers. If the controller is password-protected, it is up to your supplier to give you the password.

Please keep in mind that the new eggrider firmware has a minimum required configuration on the controller side to work correctly. For those that detect their controller is locked, I would suggest keeping the firmware they received from their supplier.

You can see the required settings here: https://manual.eggrider.com/ebike_settings/asi/
