Motor not shutting down?

Issue #126 closed
Ian McKernan created an issue

Eggrider app 2.4.18 Display Firmware 2.4.19 Bafang SZZ9 750W 48V 25A (9 fet controller from 2014)

Currently got this set @ 18A limit so not hotrodding anything. After durability and battery life.

Have this running nicely provided road / offroad mode are the same in all the bafang settings pages, and have “önly live data” selected in display settings. Throttle is new thumb job and works well.

Can read/write different settings in the bafang config pages for road and offroad mode no probs if i select “live data and settings”. If i do that, turn Eggrider off, switch off power, and then restart power and Eggrider, thats when things go wrong.

First off was using the stable firmware the bike would take off under power when turned on. 😞 Seems to have solved that by upgrading to latest beta firmware.

Now if i set up so i can switch modes, and test by using throttle, when i release the throttle the motor keeps running. Hit the brake that has a cutoff switch installed and motor stops, but then restarts again as soon as i release the brake even though the throttle is still released. And sometimes after restarting Eggrider simply nothing happens???

Going back to “only live data” and making both road and offroad modes the same settings, all good and runs well.

Bit perplexed?? Any suggestions or other info needed from me for this issue??

Thanks

    Hi Ian,

Thank you for the nice report.

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing such issues, this is indeed a very strange behaviour.

Please remember you can collect the stats from the display with the mobile app.

On the Facebook group “Matthew R” one of our customers pointed to this. Do you think it could be your case but reverse?

Hi there. I had a similar problem and the brake lever sensor was picking up magnetic interference from the throttle making the motor cut off. I moved the brake lever up the handlebar a few mm and it all worked fine. Might be something like that?

Cool. Will try shifting the throttle and eggrider display (as they are all bunched pretty close) and report back. Thanks.

Was interesting thought but no go.

Went out and separated cables and spaced things. In Display settings switched to “live data and settings”. Turned off with the power button to save the changes to Display Settings and restarted.

Ran in Road Mode ok, but when i switched to OffRoad Mode, nothing on throttle or PAS. Switched back to Road Mode and nothing on throttle or PAS.

Back into Display Settings and switched to “live data”, running again on throttle and PAS.

So seems to be something with the switch between modes??

Mine is an older Bafang BBS02. Is there something about the older controller that is causing a prob??
