BBSHD stuck at 6.5 Amp max power

Issue #132 invalid

I believe, I’m experiencing the same issue described here but I’m not aware of anyone finding a solution:

EggRider display is on latest stable firmware.

After changing speed limits and PAS levels and switching between Road and Offroad modes my BBSHD is stuck at 6.5 Amp max power (should be 25 Amp on PAS and 30 Amp on throttle).

I’m getting various error codes on the EggRider while running the motor so not sure how informative this is. The latest error code is R42.

Things I have unsuccessfully tried:

  • Switch to different 52V battery
  • Disconnect throttle + brake sensor
  • Factory reset EggRider and write default settings to controller
  • Connect to controller via USB programming cable and check settings
  • Replace EggRider with generic SW102

So the issue might actually be with the controller firmware now but probably triggered by something the EggRider display does that can’t be undone by the user.

Hi, I am really sorry to hear you are facing this problem.

Unfortunately, this is more likely a bug in the bafang controller …

It is hard to know what exactly can trigger this issue. could as well be a set of configurations that the bafang controller doesn’t like or some corruption of the bafang controller memory.

Are you able reflash the firmware of the controller? that might help. I think you might be able to find some documentation online. If not maybe reach to me over email to give some support.

Thanks, George! I contacted EM3EV as well and asked for help with flashing the firmware so I’m not putting some random version on there and make things worse.

And thank you so much for pointing out that Rxx is range and not error!

I have the same problem. I tried all software versions. the problem arises when you set the display so that it goes out in 5 minutes. then you turn on the display and both mods stay on 6 amps, if you go into the settings you can see the function of Bafang switch mode stands on only live data, when you changing it back to live data and settings everything works as before.

Hi, thank you for this detailed description. Do you power on/off the display after changing Bafang Switch mode? Please remember that settings are permanently saved when you power off the display from the power button.
