Eggrider Display stuck on update screen

Issue #211 resolved
Sick Car created an issue

After attempting to update the eggrider display through the android app the app created an error stating that the firmware update had failed. Attempts to reconnect or restart the update process failed at 5%. Following the instructions on the display and removing the display from power does not exit the update screen. Attempted to utilize the chrome update page I am able to connect to the display and start an update however it gets stuck at 4096mb.

    Greetings - I too have suddenly encountered this issue. The display was working fine ~1 week ago. In the middle of a recent ride, the display got stuck on the update screen. I tried to update the firmware through all means available, both the app, and through the deprecated Google Chrome update process. I tried this with multiple firmware versions too, and attempting the Up + M mode first to reset to defaults. Nothing resolved the issue and the display is still stuck at on the Firmware update page. I’m able to connect via the app, but the app shows the version of the display firmware as v0.0.

    @George Banea Please advise

    Hi, sorry to hear that.

    When you power on the display, does it take time to actually show the update mode or it is instant?

    Could it be that your up button is stuck? if so please get in touch over email with pictures of the serial number and pictures of the buttons.

    The update screen appears instantly when the device powers up. I hadn't thought to check the Up button. I'm traveling, but I'll investigate this when I return home this week. Thank you.

    @George Banea Thank you for your suggestion. It was indeed an issue with the ‘Up’ arrow being depressed at power-on. Somehow the display had become slightly torqued which caused the button to be impinged upon and enter the Update Mode by default. The problem has been resolved.
