Eggrider is not connecting to Bafang BBS02B

Issue #229 resolved
Andrew Zarb created an issue

I bought a Bafang 48V 750W BBS02B conversion kit which came with the Eggrider display.

When I turn everything on I get the following

I have followed the troubleshooting instructions here but still get timeout errors.

I don’t have a Bafang display to swap with and check whether the Eggrider is incompatible but it sounds pretty much identical to the issue here writing-to-bbshd-causing-error-30

Do I have to flash the Bafang controller firmware to get the Eggrider to work? Besides not having been able to find BBS02B firmware, I imagine that that would invelidate any warranty.

Anyone got any ideas?

We are truly sorry that you are having issues with your EggRider.

Please follow the steps as instructed on our user manual https://manual.eggrider.com/troubleshooting/#eggrider-display-speed-shows-kmh

If this doesn't help you to resolve the issue then the problem might be related to the controller that you're using. Some people experienced and reported this with specific controllers that seem to not allow changing the settings.

Most people solved this by installing again the firmware on the controller. Unfortunately we don't have experience with this procedure but you may find the following sources useful:

Thank you again for your enquiry and your support of EggRider.

As I stated in my post I followed the instructions from the manual https://manual.eggrider.com/troubleshooting/#eggrider-display-speed-shows-kmh and it didn’t help.

It would be good to know which specific controllers are having issues with the Eggrider display and it would be good to know which versions of the firmware work and which ones don’t work.

To stuff around with the firmware of the controller I would need to:

    1. purchase a USB programming cable
    2. know which version of the firmware I need for my specific controller
    3. be able to find that specific firmware somewhere
    4. void the warranty of the controller

I thought I was buying an out of the box solution, particularly because I the Eggrider display was part of the package with the Bafang kit.

So far I have an e-bike conversion which doesn’t work.

    SOLVED!

It’s interesting that some found reflashing the controller worked in this situation, it appears that there was something wrong with the original display.

The wonderful Ben at CapRouge, where I bought the EggRider from, gave me a replacement to try and it worked!
