[Lishui] PAS (Pedal Sensor) not work

Issue #23 resolved
Marc created an issue

Dear Friends,

I use a Lishui Controller Typ LSW939-6F für Hub Motors. It works well with Kingmeter and Key-Disp Displays.

But if I connect EggriderV2 Display all locks fine, and similar functionality works (only similar fuctionality, there are no special settings with android App for make Settings like a kingmeter Display)

but: my Pedal Sensor (PAS) doesnt work if I connect Eggrider Display.

If I Change back to a Kingmeter J-LCD, KM-5, SW-LCD or a Key-Display KD31m all works fine again. Maybe Problem ist, that ther eis no Parameters for Setup PAS Settings, and some other Settings that lishui Controller related?

There is no support currently any other controllers than bafang middle drive systems (atleast i have this kind of info, if i am totally wrong, correct me please). KT controller support is on the way, and i am sure that Lishui controller support following :) We have to give a time these guys to add support, i am confident that happen pretty fast

Ui, then I will wait, I have only lishui Controllers and Kingmeter and Key Display Displays :-) Thanks!

Hi Mark, sorry, I'll investigate your parameters. As you mentioned the Lishui parameters are cannot be changed yet, but I'm happy to send you a build with your specific settings, as soon as I figure out which one they are.

Hi Emil, Fine, thank you. Most important thing for me is: - Option to limit speed to 25 kph - option to enable PAS requirement for driving (motor startup after 1/2 rpm) - Option to limit throttle to 6 kph - option to set assist level mode from speed limit per each level to current (A) limit per each level. - maybe the slow startup ramp feature, safe strong starting current peaks..

    And so on... ;-)

Hi - another Lishui user here (with Bafang hub motor) - display seems to work (at least power up), but no PAS as reported previously, nor do the assist levels, or speedo work for me. Battery reports are good.

I was well aware it was a WIP as far as non Bafang-MD systems go, so I'm not grumbling that they don't work!

I'm more than happy to help with testing builds etc, and have a lishui bluetooth adapter (inserts between J-LCD display and controller) and app (Fore Rider Pro), that might help decode some of the other configuration / protocol selection.

@marci4x4 @intellirat Can you guys please check the mobile apps V2.1.9. Now we have support for Lishui controller settings.

Please let us know if this fixes your issues.

Hi - 2.1.9 software, and 2.1.09 FW here. Display powers, and throttle works, but no feedback on display (no power use/speed), and no PAS. Battery level is reported, and seems to work fine. Assist levels, obviously, don't have any effect, as throttle is 0-100% power regardless of that setting by design.

A post on your Facebook page got me thinking that symptoms they were seeing are quite similar to mine - and that if RX and TX are the wrong way round, this might match what I'm getting. I figured I'd take a look for a male and female higo pigtail pair, or an extension cable, and see if swapping the lines makes it work. I don't know why this would be the case, so I figured I'd ask here first, to see if I'm barking up the wrong tree? Obviously, I'll be careful with power and ground!

Also, you seem to be the only one's selling an extension cable on ebay anyway :)

Hi Martin, theoretically we try to switch in software the RX and TX to find out the correct pinout, but it might be that it doesn't work properly.

We have the cable on our website too https://eggbikes.com/e-bike-parts/ebike-display-cable-extension-higo-julet-5pin

So if the speed shows as dashed there can be two things: protocol is different and it is not supported RX and TX is the other way around.

We also have the pinout on the wiki page now: https://bitbucket.org/repo/oLeXoG4/images/3340211108-julet_5pin_EggRider_connectors_bitbucket.jpg

Hi @baneageorge, quite an update here, but no success yet. I got hold of a couple of pigtail higo leads, and made up a harness to test Rx/Tx swapover, but it didn't work (same symptoms). I thought I'd dig the controller out, and work the pinout of the current display out, just to see if anything else is going on.

The controller is a Lishui LSW947, and from a dab of multimetering, I've got the current pinout on the male higo cable plug: 1 +V, 2 GND, 3 Rx, 4 Tx, 5 Ignition Lock which, if I'm reading it right, does suggest that Rx and Tx are swapped.

I guess that means that there's still a protocol issue, even after the swapover? Is there anything to be done for that, or am I stuck with a far inferior display unit?!

Hmm, if i understand correctly you write that you use pinout "1 +V, 2 GND, 3 Rx, 4 Tx, 5 Ignition Lock" but that pinout/connector image shows, that lcd connector pinout is 1+v(36v), 2. GND, 3. ignition lock, 4. tx, 5. rx.

Now you have right pins 1, and 2, so display get power. But if ignition lock is wrong, controller cannot start when display is powered. Also tx is right. So try change those two wrong order wires (ignition lock and rx)

  12. Martin R

Ah, I see the confusion (because it got me too) - the pinout list on the picture is the controller end of the wire, and pin 1 isn't pin 1 at the higo end etc. I had to multimeter from the 5-pin connector shown in the picture (to controller), to the male higo (to display), to see what was what.

I strongly suspect ignition lock is OK, as the throttle works to power the motor, with the egg connected, it's just PAS, speedo, and stats that don't work (battery level does, but I suspect that's a simple Volts reading on the +V/gnd line - hence calibration).

Ok, that changes things :D Yeah if you get motor running, then ignition lock is ok. Have you tested to load default factory settings at eggrider after you swap those tx/rx ? Also does you old display work still ? If work that eliminate broken controller.

  14. Martin R

Oh fudge (yes, fudge), the one thing I didn't do was a factory reset on the egg with the rx/tx line swap... I'll remake the wiring rig, and try that :)

Old LCD (kingmeter J-LCD) works fine as soon as it's reconnected to the higo, so I know the controller is OK. The old LCD can still adjust the assist level, and enforce the speed limit for assist (and, ahem, adjust that too).
