Carpet mailing list is not functioning

Issue #234 closed
Ian Hinder created an issue

The Carpet mailing list has been unavailable since 22-Mar-2010. This list provides a forum for discussion of Carpet features and issues, and would be the first port-of-call for new users. As such I think it would be good to resurrect the mailing list.

is the mailing list still down? It was also useful to receive commit emails through the list so as to be up to data wrt any bugfixes/testing request are pushed into the repository. Right now I believe commit emails are only send to those that have commit rights? (Christian Ott, Christian Reisswig, me, Yosef, Ian, Peter, Frank and Erik)

Do you know if it is possible to have send out emails whenever the rss feed "triggers" or have a commit message send to the ET commits mailing list instead?

Should we close the ticket as "wontfix" then since it has been decided that there will not be a Carpet mailing list?

These are just what RSS feeds are for -- people can subscribe to them. I don't think that will send out emails.

We can also just send out email commit messages from the hg server. Do you know how to set this up?

Sorry, I have never set up commit emails with mercurial. I guess I could follow the description at though. Even then however I do not have the required access to (which hosts the mercurial repository, right?). I might be mistaken in this but didn't someone set up some sort of commit emails during the Carpet workshop at RIT (or Caltech)?

Commit messages would then be send to the ET commit mailing list (in addition or instead of the current set of recipients)?

I reconfigured the server to send the messages to <>, and disabled all other commit announcements.
