Gamecube resets

Issue #132 resolved

Original [issue 132](https://code.google.com/p/genplus-gx/issues/detail?id=132) created by noddykev@hotmail.co.uk on 2010-11-05T08:19:01.000Z:

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Pressing any button rapidly at any of the menu's around 20 to 30 times.

What do you see instead? I found when pressing the A button rapidly to change the character set of the game genie cheat entry menu it caused the gamecube to reset, it also happens at other menu pages where a button is unused ie: X and Y. It didn't notify me of saving any file when selecting "OK" to save the cheats, is that normal?

What version of the emulator are you using (official, SVN revision,...)? genplus-gx-1.4.0 --- Unrelated:

I can't see any option in the system settings for the action replay "lock-on", I placed the areplay.bin and ggenie.bin roms in the genplus root folder as described but nothing shows up on the left hand side after booting a game and pressing Z for the menu.

One last thing I can't see the key config or 3/6 button controller options in the control settings either.

Reset on Game Cube is generally a way to tell us something crashed, I will look into it. However, I did try to press X or Y repetitively in the menu and it did nothing for me. I don't see how pressing buttons could cause a crash, especially unused buttons. maybe your controller is defective or it's something else happening and you misinterpreted the cause of the crash.

Cheats File is automatically saved when you leave the Cheat Menu.

"lock-on" emulation must be enabled in the system settings, scroll down with the d-pad the options to find it, it's there (see those arrows ? it means there are other options not displayed).

To configure keys, you need to go into controller settings then select one of the player and press A to make the configuration window appear. Why nobody never read the User Manual ? It took me one week to write it and i don't think any other homebrew application has such a detailed one :/

For the record, I reproduced the Cheat menu crash but it's not related to pressing buttons. It will be investigated and fixed (as well as the inversion of L/R trigger description which I didn't noticed)

Found a memory leak in the cheat menu, which would cause sooner or later (faster on GC since there are less memory aailable) a crash.

Should be fixed in upcoming version.

Thanks for explaining I didn't fully understand, in the manual it already shows the full config screen, I didn't get that you had to select the player number to bring it up. Would be nice if you could add config options to be allowed to map buttons to the c-stick directions also as well as being able to map up and down to to the L/R triggers instead as some racing games use that for gears, I find when cornering I accidently downshift or upshift using the analog stick. Up and down on the c-stick could be used for the brake and accelerator instead of A and B.

As for the "lock on" option, I thought they might of been a separate option for s&k for the cheat software, is it not possible to cheat on s&k with sonic 1 & 2? do you have to use game genie instead?

Nope my conroller isn't defective it's an official one you have to press it really fast for it to happen, I did it with my nail pressed into the button and did it like a button spasme using X at the first menu screen as well as rapdily changing the character set at the cheat menu using A. I'll try doing it again today it may of happened because I accessed the cheat menu prior and that in turn caused a delayed memory leak at the first menu screen.
