Original [issue 227](https://code.google.com/p/genplus-gx/issues/detail?id=227) created by gora.patrick on 2012-06-22T15:29:42.000Z:
Could you add controller support for the retrode 2 usb, so that you're able to play with your original controller? would be great! :)

The Retrode actually follows the USB Keyboard boot protocol in [HIDMode] 3. I'd be surprised if extra libraries were needed to support that...

would be awesome if it could be added. I'd like to test it ... ;)

So the Retrode is seen as a USB hub, with a HDD and a keyboard attached ? I am still not sure how libogc is handling this, sure both types of device are supported separately but together i don't know (though i admit i don't know much about usb protocol).
Anyway, since i don't have an usb keyboard neither a retrode to test with, there are very little chance it's going to happen.

You might as well just ask me for a Retrode :)

I could indeed, but i know how much it costs and don't think it's fair to ask you this kind of things, it's your business afterall.

There is no USB controller support in libogc so that would be something that would need to be added by them first, and i am not sure if this is possible since retrode is actually seen as USB drive only.
Honestly, you are better with buying a specific genesis adapter for wii, there are a few which adapt to a gamecube controller port and even one that can be connected to the wiimote and makes genesis controller as classic controller. I have both and they work great, see the main page for some link.
