Missing sound in Chakan & Dragon Crystal

Issue #283 resolved

Original issue 283 created by AaronDoom on 2012-10-13T22:20:25.000Z:

What version of the emulator are you using?

1.7.1

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Play Dragon Crystal for Game Gear or Master System (there's a version for ether system). Attack monsters. The "attack" sound is not properly playing. But when you miss, the "tink" sound can be heard. The attack sounds use a stereo effect -- if you attack a monster on the left, the sound should come from the left speaker, and vice-versa. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Play Chakan for Genesis. On the title screen with the close-up of him holding his sword, the letters C H A K A N will appear, and each time a letter appears it should make a distinct low-pitch kind of "chunk" sound, but instead I head a faint high-pitched glitchy sound.

I think these sounds worked fine in the last version of Genplus.

Ekeeke, you should consider releasing some quick "bug fix" versions of Genplus to fix issues like this without adding new features, because I wait a long time for new releases to fix the bugs, but then you add a bunch of new stuff in and we get new bugs, heh.

But do keep up the good work.

I will look into it, try if enabling low pass filter makes any difference for Chakan.

As for your last remark, i make releases whenever i feel like doing them.
Bugfixes are generally commited to svn when fixed so you can compile intermediate versions.
And yes, bugs get fixed and new bugs come out, that's infortunate but it's impossible for me to test the entire library each time i make a bug fix.

    Low-pass filter doesn't help Chakan.

And I don't have the tools to compile svn versions....
And I use dial-up, so I don't want to try to download them ;)

Then you are out of luck because i am not going to do build releases everytime i fix a bug, this is very time consuming and i prefer spending it with more interesting things.
I am sure however there are some places where people post compiled revisions.

Turns out it was actually a bug I accidentally introduced with PSG noise channel emulation when rewriting PSG core, which affected both games (and probably others).
