Issue with Wii resolution

Issue #411 invalid
Darren Browne created an issue

Hi there, I am using genplus-gx-1.7.5-RC1 on a Wii (v4.3E) connected via component cable to a Panasonic plasma tv running @480p.

When I launch the emulator it seems to re-sync and adjust the screen size after a few seconds (almost like it's zooming in), this seems to be on the 2nd screen and not the 'home' screen. If I use the TV remote to go through the various connections and come back to 'component' the screen size goes back to normal until I hit that menu again. I don't have this issue with any of the other emulators I am using.

If you need a screenshot please let me know. Hoping you might be able to help! :)

Kind regards

Darren

The emulator only changes the video mode on startup (and if it detects a component cable, will normally pick 480p, or 576p if your Wii internal settings are set to PAL 576i). Nothing is changed to video out or screen scaling after that (until a game is loaded and running that is) and there is no "zooming" handled in the menu code so it seems more like your TV has some issue with the selected video mode.

What is the "2nd screen" you are talking about though and why do you say "it seems" to be on that screen only ? It is not very precise. Also, what do you mean by "until I hit that menu again" ? Which menu ?

Did you tried with previous version (1.7.4) to see if the same thing happens ?

If you can, try setting your Wii settings ( in Wii System Menu) to different TV mode to see if it changes something. Also try to delete Genesis Plus GX config file (config.ini) from your SD card as it might have been corrupted.

Hi Eke Firstly, many thanks for taking the time to reply - knowing that no video modes were being changed helped as I knew then it wasn't the emu, sorry I wasn't clear, the 2nd screen was any menu I came across after the home screen e.g. if I pressed 'load game' etc. I managed to fix the issue - my TV was set to 'auto' so it picks the video mode based on it's input; no idea why it was trying to change as it didn't do this with any other emulator but I switched it to 16:9 and now it works fine. Thank you for your time and thanks for the emulator - love it! Kind regards Darren
