Lock-On Save issues (Sonic and Knuckles)

Issue #43 resolved
Former user created an issue

Original [issue 43](https://code.google.com/p/genplus-gx/issues/detail?id=43) created by Icedus on 2009-10-02T16:52:15.000Z:

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Get the necessary files to enable Sonic and Knuckles Lock-On. 2. Play Sonic 3, start any file so it saves. 3. Enable Lock-On emulation with the same Sonic 3 ROM, the save file is not present and starting a save file overwrites the Sonic 3 SRAM

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? On an original Genesis, Sonic 3 saves would transfer over when connecting a Sonic 3 cartridge with a Sonic and Knuckles cartridge, and you could pick up where you left off. Instead, they are just deleted/overwritten.

What version of the emulator are you using? The latest revision; r352

Please provide any additional information below (video settings, console region,...) This is possibly something you already knew about, but may not have found a way to fix. Do you think there will ever be some way to handle the save files that will allow for using the same Sonic 3 ROM with and without lock-on enabled?

Just tested it and it works perfectly fine for me: as long as you are loading the same Sonic 3 ROM file, the .srm filename is the same in both cases (Lock-ON enabled or not). Make sure your SDCARD is fine, this is not an issue on the emulation side.

My SD Card works fine when saving games otherwise (I just fixed it earlier as seen in my last Issue statement)... is it possible that the S&K UPMEM file I'm using has something wrong with it? I downloaded it from Rapidshare after a lot of searching for one and it loads the games fine, but this is the only issue I seem to be having. SRAM Auto: FAT is enabled in Genesis Plus' options and my SD card is formatted accordingly.

Would it be possible for you to perhaps link me to a site with a UPMEM file that you know works for sure, if that's the cause of this problem?

There was indeed a bug, which is now fixed. Changing some system options would reinitialize the system (including SRAM) and SRAM would NOT be reloaded unless you reload the ROM after changing the option.

SRAM files are now reloaded automatically after each system reinitialization when Auto-SRAM is enabled.
