Sonic 3 with BIOS problem

Issue #45 resolved
Former user created an issue

Original [issue 45](https://code.google.com/p/genplus-gx/issues/detail?id=45) created by RhetoricalDream on 2009-10-04T02:29:05.000Z:

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Get a Sonic 3 ROM and Mega Drive/Genesis BIOS file 2. Start Sonic 3 (Alone)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? The emulator hangs at the BIOS screen and never starts the game. This doesn't happen to S3K, even with lock-on emulation using the same Sonic 3 ROM.

What version of the emulator are you using? r352

Please provide any additional information below (video settings, console region,...) I tried three different Sonic 3 ROMs (What is it with this game and emulation issues?) and they all produce the same effect. No other game I've tried has done the same thing with this BIOS file of mine, but I suppose there may be more.

I run Sonic The Hedgehog 3 with a Genesis BIOs using r352 and it works fine with these settings: -Console Region: AUTO -System Lockups: ON -68k Address Error: ON -System BIOS: ON -Lock-On: OFF Even without the system BIOs it ran fine with my ROM for me. Are you sure you compiled correctly?

I have the same settings and yeah, I'm certain I compiled correctly. I'd say the problem would be with my BIOS file, but I mean, literally every other game I've tried (at least 50 or so) run fine with it. Is it possible that it's a regional ROM issue? If you aren't doing so already, could you try it with a NTSC (U) Sonic 3 ROM? Thanks.

Confirmed, it works the very first time when you switch BIOS Support ON while playing the game then does not work anymore when you hard-reset or reload the ROM... only affects this game though (any region version).

Now fixed. For the record, it happened for all games that had a SRAM file when auto-SRAM is enabled, the autoloading feature would reset the memory mapping each time the file was loaded.
