From Drake's wiki this is a car that follows a lane. You just specify the lane of the road geometry and the direction. It should follow it.
Using this model will avoid all the path computation on our side.

A demo in Darpa was recorded with 10 MaliputRailCars. TrajectoryCar have been removed and only MaliputRailCars have been left.
