combine panels with chiasms

It would be nice to be able to somehow combine both panel outlines with chiastic outlines. See for example the outline published for Proverbs chapter 9, as well as the one for Matt.1:23-25. I tried using (1)...(2)...(3)... but it picks those as verse numbers and wants to display the corresponding verses, so I instead used (a)...(b)...(c)... It would be nice to be able to get a structure that places each of these "panel portions" at the same level on the outline with a letter & number combination label for those lines. Many chunks (or pairs) within an outline use these kind of structures (combination of panel & chiasm).
