python3 compatibility?

Is this project compatible with python3? I see a merged PR that appear to add compatibility but the setup.py file indicates python 2 and the version on pypi seems old. Do you think you can roll a new release?

Version 0.9.8-rc3, released recently, is definitely compatible with Python 3. We will try to get out a release with a more reassuring version number once some more light cleanup is done.
