Set a field as a function of other fields and JSD customer request types

Hi im attempting to set the JSD customer request type conditionally using "set a field as a function of other fields" workflow function.
The problem im having is that i cannot set the field if the request type was created in the newer Jira service desk 3.x upwards as it looks like they changed the value format/id.
In the image the top rule works the request type was created before the upgrade and the bottom rule does not work the request type was created after the upgrade both rules are using request types valid for the issue types.
Attached is the log error. Any help much appreciated thanks
