Copying Due date to datetime picker custom field fails silently

Trying to "copy parsed text" from due date to a datepicker custom field isn't working. I would expect a default conversion to work out-of-the-box. Misc Workflow "Copy Value From Other Field" works for instance.

Do we need to perform some conversions to make it work?

Use "Mathematical and date-time expression calculator" with the following formula:

{00012}

where {00012} is code for numeric value of Due date.
