The camera doesn't make much sense in the battle.
For example in the Lost Lantern mission I used Marisa to stall the trees near the starting point of the map. Meanwhile all my other characters moved through the forest and Marisa was keeping the trees moving to the wrong direction. As my characters had gained enough distance I quickly moved Marisa to regroup with the rest of the characters. At this point the trees didn't follow my characters anymore, but each turn the camera first went down to trees even though they weren't moving at all. This kept going all the way to the end of the map, even while fighting against Wriggle.
So it might be reasonable to re-think the camera behaviour in combat.
